New QTH again! - 2015-edition

Our small family came back to central part of Finland. There is something new thought. In summer 2015 we bought an old house from countryside as our weekend place. It's badly insulated so it's not possible to spend time there at winter. But late autumn and early spring should be fine.

As you might guess, I'm going to build that place to be my main QTH (KP12OL). Becauce we still live in rental appartment (KP12KS) and I have a feeling that we are going to move again someday. Hopefully that would be a place of our own (or bank to be frankly).

At the moment I'm not sure which gear i'm going to build my permanent station on, but I was thinking to use my old stuff and only buy some new antennas and some coaxials with proberly installed connectors (someone else should do those connections then ;) ).

I'm going to use my old Icom IC-737A as HF rig (thankfully I didn't sell it). I'm thinking to buy a factory produced OCF-dipole to go with it. Just not sure if I should get 10-80m or 10-40m version.

I'm also planning to buy Diamond V2000 50/144/433 vertical and use that with Yeasu FT-857D. I'm mainly interested about 6 meters band, because that's whole new experience for me and what I have learned it's quite interesting band because of all of those exciting propagation modes.

There is going to be an emergency type of gear permanently in the cottage. Benefon Forte and Icom IC-28H should do fine for that. Other gear I'm going to take with me everytime. It could be extremly cold even in inside. Nearest ham-operated weather station had measured -37.5 C (-35.5 F) in january 2016.

Kenwood TM-V71 I'm going to install on our home. I don't have antenna for that either, becauce all of our previous apartments have had a steel roof and I have always use car antennas with magnette mounts on 2m/70cm -bands. Now I have to figure out something else.

New QTH again! - 2014

I have moved again, this is actually my third apartment since 2011. It makes my Ham hobby a little bit less relaxing that I had hoped for. Now I just managed to get my second new hamradio gear to my current QTH, a new APRS-tracker. I used to have one in my car but now I also have a portable unit. It’s a PLXtracker from Poland connected to an old Icom IC-V82 -handheld VHF-radio with a 7W output.

Previously I was able to purchase a second hand Yeasu FT-857D, an automatic tuner, a small power supply and a Byddypole -antenna.

I’m propably going to sell my previous gear and focus entirely on portable operation. I just need to get some 12v batteries and a charger. Then I will spend the whole summer in the forest enjoying the never ending Finnish midnight sun. 😉

Ericsson dataterminal

I have bought an old Ericsson dataterminal from Sappee Ham radio -event. I didn´t know what to do with it, so I opened it. Here are some photos.ericsson dataterminal photogalleryMore photos
